Chris, originally from Germany and trained at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, has lived and
worked in the UK for the last 20 years. He joined Haworth Tompkins in 2007 and became a
Director in 2018. He is an architect and an accredited Passivhaus designer. His main focus is on
designing and delivering high-quality sustainable homes, addressing both the housing and the
climate crisis.
Chris leads both the sustainability and the housing team and is working on projects at all
scales, ranging from low-rise infill sites to large new urban blocks with high rise towers. From
innovative adaptive re-use projects to a regenerative new town with 7500 new homes.
Chris is a member of several housing and design review panels in London and regularly lectures
and crits at universities and events in the UK and internationally.
