Mapping London: Lived Experience as Data

Talk

Friday 05 December 2025
12:30 - 13:30

Explore how mapping lived experiences onto the NLA model can reveal new insights into London’s public spaces, power, and inclusion.
What does London feel like to you? Joyful, energetic, intimidating, unsafe, welcoming? And how might others experience it differently? In this Diverse Dialogues Model Talk, Kuljeet Sibia invites audiences to experience the city differently by mapping their own lived experiences, emotions, and memories onto the NLA model of London, while engaging with the perspectives of others.

Drawing on live projects such as Ilford Arrival, the session highlights how public spaces can be shaped by those who use them most. Kuljeet will explore how centring the perspectives of marginalised groups and the diversity of lived experiences can shift power in city-making, turning lived experience into a vital form of data.

This interactive talk transforms the London model into a shared canvas: audiences will be invited to contribute their own perspectives, mapping feelings of safety, exclusion, joy, and belonging across the city. Together, we will uncover what it means to develop London from and for its people, and how emotions and everyday experiences can inspire more inclusive, equitable, and resilient places.
