Study Tour: 101 Moorgate

Tour

Wednesday 20 August 2025
08:30 - 10:00

Join this study tour of 101 Moorgate, a city office built on underground infrastructure, led by Orms’ Director Simon Whittaker and Associate Director Shireen Han.
This 70,000sqft Crossrail over-site commercial development sits partially above the ventilation shaft to the new Moorgate station entrance of the Elizabeth Line. The physical constraints of the site required the use of storey-high steel trusses at Mezzanine level (now utilized for informal lounges and a large cycle centre) to enable the building to span across the London Underground Metropolitan Line tunnel which passes directly below the reception. There are landscaped terraces and planted screening on the roofscape as well.

Modular offsite fabrication had been used for the precast façade panels, WC cubicle pods and for building services. An integrated approach to design employing BIM alongside Whole Life Carbon Assessment was used to explore design options and inform decisions with embodied carbon and circular economy in mind. The project targets BREEAM Outstanding, Nabers 5*, WELL Core Platinum, Wired Score Platinum, EPC A rating and has SMART building features.

Please note the capacity for this event is very limited and therefore tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 2 per organisation.
