We hosted a webinar on the topic of London’s vast and evolving underground infrastructure system.
As housing and development pressures increased across London, the need to utilise existing subterranean infrastructure to support growth and regeneration in the capital became more critical than ever.
Our panel of experts on London’s underground infrastructure network guided us through the design, construction, and maintenance of the capital’s complex network of tunnels, pipes, and wires.
Alongside over 200km of railway tunnels, London possesses a vast sewer system and thousands of metres of power tunnels reaching depths of up to 60m below ground. The recent London Power Tunnels project by National Grid rewired the capital’s electricity network to boost resilience, future-proof supplies, and support our journey to net zero. However, questions remain about whether further innovation will be needed in how we use underground space in the years ahead.
We explored these questions and more in our technical webinar uncovering what lies beneath London’s streets and buildings.
