John is an award-winning architect who has experience of leading a multi-disciplinary design team on a large variety of projects including various arena and performance venues. He has led the design of several recent high-profile successful mega event bids including the recent Dubai 2020 World Expo bid masterplan and the Birmingham 2022 Common Wealth Games bid. 

John has wide experience of developing sports- and entertainment-based destinations, with a special focus on how they can become the catalyst for regeneration. He has particular experience of designing within tight budget constraints, and has developed various design strategies to create value for money. John understands the ‘experiential’ nature of performance, sport and leisure buildings, and the underlying business plan behind them.
