Mike is the AECOM Office Sector leader, creating the next generation of sustainable, healthy and smart offices working with British Land, Canada Water, CO-RE in West end, and City of London’s Salisbury Square. Mike completed many award-winning workplaces including BBC’s iconic Broadcasting House, Award winning White Collar Factory, 22 Bishopsgate, Dubai International Finance Centre, and historic United Nations Geneva. Mike is currently leading the next generation of sustainable, smart and healthy buildings including listed buildings, refurbishments and new builds.
Mike was elected to BCO Board 2021-2024, BCO London Judge 2014-2017, and current BCO National judge’s Chair 2019-2025. Mike is also a volunteer RIBA judge in 2024 and 2022. Mike is a CIBSE Trustee/Vice-President and active mentor.
Mike contributed to industry publications including RIBA books ‘Reworking the Workplace’ and co-authored 2023 ‘Next Generation Office Design’, advising also BCO Guides to Specification 2014/2019/2023 and wrote chapters for 2014/2025 Fit Out Guide. Mike led many presentations on this research/guidance supporting learning and understanding.
Mike’s a winning team member of BCO Office of the Future, BCO Inspirational Leader finalist and awarded CIBSE Engineer of the Year for outstanding contribution to sustainable design and leadership.
In 2023 was awarded an RIBA Honorary Fellowship, Mike is ‘known for high standards in sustainability and architectural quality, dedicated …to improving the industry, …volunteers as a mentor, and … supporting women ….’
Mike is an Honorary Professor at University of Nottingham, and University of Leeds, advising on syllabus, teaching and supporting students.
