NEW LONDON AWARDS 2021

Shortlisted in the MIXING category
Barts Square establishes a mixed-use quarter in the City of London, including 236 residential units (9 buildings), 235,000ft² of office space (2 buildings) and 21,000ft² of retail around new public realm, partially located within the Smithfield Conservation Area. The 9-year project used a collaborative design approach, combining reuse of existing buildings with new architectural statements where appropriate. Historic plot widths and building scales have been retained, while new buildings slot in to create a permeable urban quarter, maintaining the scale and materiality of their neighbours.
