LOM has completed the campus expansion of Point Blank Music School in Hoxton, transforming a Victorian warehouse into a cutting-edge music education facility.
Building on the success of a 6-studio teaching facility completed for Point Blank Music School in 2016, LOM were called upon to develop designs to fit out and expand the boutique music school into a larger premises with 12 innovative teaching studios, alongside improved student facilities including practice rooms, a new student performance hub and bar area, welcome lobby, library and breakout booths.
Retrofit and restoration works were carried out to transform the existing Victorian building from a vintage clothing warehouse into a cutting-edge music college, upgraded for modern use. The interiors have been crafted to give character to the school, retaining and enhancing existing features where possible with the intent to convey the atmosphere and intimacy of professional recording studio environments. There is a mix of warm tones and tactile textures throughout, ranging from exposed brickwork, retained cast iron structure, varying acoustic ceiling and wall panelling, polished concrete floors, characterful timber panelling, crittall-style partitions, industrial lighting, and relaxed seating.
