Inclusive Growth: London as a global innovation hub

Half-day conference

Friday 10 February 2023
09:00 - 13:00

NLA’s report ‘Innovation Districts: Designing Inclusive Places’, maps the evolution of innovation districts across London, the Golden Triangle and the wider UK via the role of design and placemaking, and their role in creative socially inclusive places. This half-day conference will continue to examine the key findings from the report by placing London alongside international innovation district case studies and examining the key challenges when integrated place-based innovation districts.
The evolution of innovation models has significantly contributed to city-wide economic growth and increased employment and skills, allowing for innovation to flourish across multiple sectors.

In NLA’s report ‘Innovation Districts: Designing Inclusive Places’, this evolution has been mapped across London, the Golden Triangle and the wider UK, showcasing over fifty exemplary projects and case studies that provide an update on innovation district models. Today, the biggest challenge faced by these progressive clusters is creating inclusive places that integrate and give back to their urban contexts.

This half-day conference will continue to examine the key findings from the report and push the agenda further by comparing London’s leading innovation district models to international case studies to reframe London as an international global hub for innovation. We will also hear from innovation districts across London that have put community integration at the fore, examining the relationship between design, stewardship and public and private partnerships in creating a long-term integrated place-based innovation district.
