Skills for Places Research Launch

Networking

Thursday 24 April 2025
18:15 - 20:15

Launching Skills for Places, our most recent insight study which explores career pathways into the built environment.
NLA’s Skills for Places report identifies career pathways into the built environment, aiming to inspire young people to enter the industry while addressing the critical challenges of building a more skilled, sustainable, and inclusive workforce. A career in the built environment offers the opportunity to shape the future of our cities, yet awareness of these career paths remains limited at school age. Traditional training routes, often siloed, do not fully reflect the interdisciplinary skills required to design, construct, and manage the places of tomorrow.

On this evening, we launch Skills for Places, our latest insight study which consolidates key data on current and future skill requirements, highlights innovative programmes, and sets out actionable recommendations to remove barriers to entry and bridge the gap between education and employment. As part of this research, we surveyed both industry professionals and young people to gather insights on available resources, barriers to entry, and awareness of careers in the sector.

This event will bring together industry leaders, educators, and policymakers to discuss how we can equip the next generation with the skills needed to shape a more sustainable and inclusive built environment.
