NLA Awards 2025 Winners Announced

NLA is proud to announce the winners of the NLA Awards 2025, celebrating the projects and people shaping a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous London. Supported by the Mayor of London, this year’s Awards highlight outstanding contributions aligned with the priorities of the New London Agenda.

The results were revealed in the Great Hall, Guildhall, where more than 650 industry leaders came together to recognise excellence across the capital’s built environment.

Highgate Newtown Community Partners named Overall Winner

The Overall Winner of the 2025 NLA Awards is Highgate Newtown Community Partners by RCKa for London Borough of Camden.

The project was recognised for its contribution to community life through the delivery of new social infrastructure, integrated services and high-quality homes.

Professor Sadie Morgan OBE, founding director at dRMM, said:
“All the principles of the New London Agenda that we hold dear truly shone through in the overall winner, Highgate Newtown Community Centre, giving us a huge amount of hope for the future. Small in scale – huge in impact, it’s a generous, beautiful, charming and wonderful project — a truly deserving winner.”

Janette Sadik-Khan, Principal, Bloomberg Associates, and former Commissioner, New York City Department of Transportation and member of the NLA Awards International Jury, said:

“We shape our buildings and our streets, and then they shape us. Highgate Newtown Community Centre shows what’s possible when London redesigns its neighbourhoods around the changing needs of its people.”

Mayor's Prize: Kidbrooke Park Road North

The Mayor’s Prize was awarded to Kidbrooke Park Road North by HTA Design for Greenwich Builds, Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The project delivers 122 affordable homes, a nursery and community hub on a former RAF site, combining strong sustainability performance with design quality and social value. It exemplifies the Mayor’s ambition for high-quality, affordable housing and inclusive neighbourhoods across London.

Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, said:
“I’m delighted to see this year’s Mayor’s Prize for Good Placemaking at Density awarded to HTA Design in collaboration with Greenwich Builds and RB Greenwich for Kidbrooke Park Road North. The scheme has transformed previously inaccessible brownfield land into a high density, sustainable council housing development, with play, amenity and community spaces at its heart, reflecting the Mayor’s commitment to designing a city that works for all.”

People’s Choice Award: Alexander Pope’s Grotto

The People’s Choice Award, voted for by the public, was awarded to Alexander Pope’s Grotto, restored by Donald Insall Associates for the Pope’s Grotto Preservation Trust.

The project was acknowledged for the restoration of the Grade II* listed landmark and its reopening for public and community use.

Londoner of the Year: Jerome Frost OBE

Jerome Frost OBE, CEO of Arup Group, was named Londoner of the Year in recognition of his leadership within the built environment sector and contributions to the future of London.

Hidden Hero Award: Tricia Smikle

The Hidden Hero Award was presented to Tricia Smikle, Head of Programmes in the Office of the CEO at RNIB, recognising her role in improving accessibility and supporting inclusive environments for people with sight loss.
