This deep retrofit of two Grade II listed buildings for St John’s College, University of Cambridge, accommodates a new Porters’ Lodge and serves as an admin office hub for College staff.
Two Grade II listed buildings are transformed from a restaurant and student accommodation into a new entrance and pedestrian arrival route for St John’s College, Cambridge, now home to a Porters’ Lodge and administrative office hub. Reconfiguration and decluttering of the site has joined the previously separate structures with a glazed link building, unifying them around a new central courtyard. The historic fabric has been uncovered, conserved and upgraded with bio-based solutions, and low energy systems introduced.
