Following our latest report ‘RePower London: Infrastructure for Growth’ this PechaKucha showcased the various typologies of infrastructures featured in the report from Data Centres to Digital, Transport and Green systems that have been designed to run cities sustainably and play an important role in the energy transition. Whilst this event showcases five distinct types of infrastructure, each example transcends traditional silos, adopting joined-up, cross disciplinary and multifunctional strategies.

The projects presented are exemplar schemes that have been delivered or are coming forward, that model place-based approaches to infrastructure provision in the capital. From neighbourhood-level, community-driven infrastructure projects to sub-regional networks and London-wide frameworks, the showcase includes diverse typologies and scales of delivery to peel back and dissect the infrastructural layers of London.

The format, PechaKucha (ペチャクチャ), was devised in Tokyo in 2003 by the English architect Mark Dytham and has turned into a massive global celebration of design, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. The format makes presentations concise, keeps things moving at a rapid pace and holds its audience.
