Biomaterials: opportunities and effects, powered by PechaKucha

Talk

Tuesday 09 August 2022
18:30 - 20:00

A PechaKucha presenting key innovative schemes that use biomaterials in order to enhance sustainability and promote wellbeing.
The bioeconomy is rapidly growing, following the push to make the built environment sector more sustainable. Whilst the roadmap to net zero remains complex, with many factors of building techniques under scrutiny, it is apparent that there is an emerging shift in culture and thinking and innovation seems to be driving this change.

Research has suggested that natural materials within our buildings spaces have considerable benefits to not only the sustainability agenda but also the well-being of residents. With a combined well-being benefit to our societies future, it is no wonder we are seeing a surge in driving the biomaterial sector forward. Utilising innovation has paved the way for creative and new ways we can reimagine our buildings and spaces and forward-thinking changes in the biomaterials sector offers to push the capabilities of sustainable and healthy buildings even further and provide a truly circular and sustainable way of building for the future.

This talk brings a range of schemes, research and exhibitions that are looking at the way biomaterials can be implemented within the built environment in order to further wellbeing and sustainability.
